Abstract

14,545. Vandevelde, A. Oct. 14. [Addition to 16,135/13.] Staiths and elevated structures.-The merchandise loading and unloading apparatus described in the parent Specification is modified by the provision of auxiliary travellers and hoppers at the sides of the structure, and in a modified form is adapted for use at a railway station. The brackets 23, Fig. 1, extend outwards from the sides and are arranged at intervals longitudinally to carry the tracks of the travellers 25. Below the travellers are arranged storage hoppers 22. For use at railway stations, trucks are arranged above and below vertical hoppers 3 as shown in Fig. 2. Merchandise is discharged into the hoppers from tip-trucks, tip-carts, or from tipping-apparatus forming part of the structure. The hoppers discharge into wagons on the lower track. Travellers 15 mounted upon roller bridges serve to transport goods from wagons &c. on one side to wagons on the other side of the structure.
