Abstract
14,358. Erfurth, O. O., and Internationale Patentverwertungs-Ges. Oct. 11. Fixed sieves. - In apparatus for purifying clay and removing stones therefrom, in which the clay is passed through perforations in a sieve cylinder by a worm rotating therein, the cleaning of the sieve is facilitated, and the process is rendered continuous, by arranging a sieve cylinder d, d<1> on each side of the central charging point a, a right and a left threaded worm g, g<1> respectively being carried on the worm spindle h. Thus, for cleaning purposes, the one sieve cylinder d may be thrown out of action, and the other sieve cylinder d<1> thrown into action, or vice versa, solely by reversing the direction of rotation of the working worm, the cylinder previously operative being at the same time practically emptied into the other cylinder. The construction may be modified by locating the stone boxes b, b<1> in the centre instead of at the ends of the apparatus, the clay being then charged in at both ends. In this case, however, the one cylinder cannot empty itself into the other cylinder.
