Abstract

13,943. Hunter, C. E. Oct. 1. Caps, making. The contact-pieces c are held in position on the shell b during the filling with vitrite and the moulding, by a temporary attachment such as a disk of paper, fabric, &c. a which covers the end of the shell. The disk may be coated with a resinous cement, such as a solution of rubber and resin, which softens on heating and cements the parts together. The parts are assembled on a heated mandrel m, Fig. 5, having pins q, which project through holes in the contact-pieces c and the disk a, and are pressed together by a plunger o. The Provisional Specification describes also the use of a travelling belt on which the parts are assembled. The belt has slots which receives the projecting pins of the shell, and projecting pins which pass through the holes in the paper disk and the contact-pieces. The paper disk has depressions to receive the contact-pieces.
