Ropes, guiding.-A device for guiding rope! and cables comprises a hollow swivel a, and a pulley e attached at one end of the swivel anc so disposed as to guide the rope into the hollow swivel eccentrically of its axis to cause the swivel to swing round and the pulley to occupy the desired position. The guide-pulley e has a sheath d, or another pulley, as shown in Fig. 3 is attached to the swivel, to prevent the rope from moving backwards out of the pulley groove. The swivel may be provided with a number of small pulleys n arranged around the axis and at the lower end of the swivel, and the bearings of the pulleys and the swivel may be ball bearings.
