Abstract

Tools for setting out work. - Relates to a tool for marking out rivet-holes, and comprises a series of concentrically-arranged cylindrical pegs or tubes any one of which may be projected into position for use, and with which may also be combined a hollow head carrying a cord for marking the pitch lines. Each tube a has attached to it a screw c with a clamping-nut d, which projects through slots b in the surrounding tubes, whereby any particular tube a may be projected and clamped in position to mark the size of hole required. The outer tube carries a hollow head h having a loose cap k fixed to a spindle j passing through the tubes, and a bobbin m wound with cord o used in marking the pitch lines required to centre the tool when in use. Each tube has two marks at its lower end separated by a rightangle, for positioning it on the marking-lines. The cord o issues through a hole in the head h and is attached to the bobbin m at an eye n. The loosely-fitting cap k permits the easy rewinding of the cord, or a spring may be used for this purpose. The outside tube a is made longer than the others.
