Jackets and covers.-A protective band for insertion between the air-tube and cover comprises abutting sections 5 of cotton-fibre and an outer cushion 7 of rubber and canvas. The fibre sections may be formed with lugs 6, which are recessed into the band 7 and secured by cross-pins 11. A flexible strip 3<a> may be fitted under the fibre 5, or the tread portion of the air-tube may be thickened.
