Propelling.-Relates to centrifugal impeller wheels of the kind in which reversal of the propulsive thrust is effected by moving the impeller shaft axially, and consists in arranging the connecting passages so that fluid can flow through the impeller wheels in series in either direction. Fig. 1 shows a series propeller in which the wheels can be shifted from the position F<1> to the position F<2> to give ahead or astern motion by means of the block F<3> on the shaft F, which is squared at F<4> to fit a corresponding socket F<5>. The inlet and outlet passages E, E<1> are tapered and arranged as shown.
