Abstract
9343. Vasey, S. A., and Cleeve, N. A. June 25. Preserving food; food preparations; salt preparations.-Comestible and other powders, such as oatmeal, pea flour, casein, coffee, milk sugar, and salt, are superficially and evenly coated with not more than 5 per cent of an odourless hydrocarbon, such as B.P. paraffinum liquidum, which is both liquid and non-volatile at ordinary temperatures. The powders are preserved, rendered more readily miscible with water, and kept dry and non-caking. The process described consists in blowing the powder into a mist of the hydrocarbon obtained by a spray-producer.
