Abstract

7541. Wade H., [Standard Oil Co.]. Oct, 20, 1914. Hydrocarbon oils, distilling and cracking; bulk evaporators.-Apparatus for converting heavy hydrocarbons into gasolene and other light oils by the process described in Specification 29,862/12 consists of a still containing catalytic plates 14 suspended in the vapour space, or interlocking downwardly-convex plates 12 supported by hinges 13 and extending over the bottom of the still in such manner as to provide for the circulation of the oil. The catalytic surfaces may consist of copper, brass, steel, or other metal in the form of solid plates or gauze plates; plates of mineral fibres such as asbestos or glass may also be used.
