Abstract
6586. Lynden, R. A. Baron van, and Naamlooze Vennootschap de Nederlandische Thermo-Telephoon. May 3. [Cognate Application, 12,256/15.] Hot-wire transmitters and receivers. - The heating-conductor of a thermic telephone or microphone is laid or formed upon a support which is a partial conductor of heat but is practically a non-conductor of electricity. In Figs. 1 and 2, the heating-conductor E is shown in the form of an extremely thin S-shaped metallic ribbon or strip laid between terminals F on a support D of marble or like material. The conductor may be electrolytically deposited on the support, and may be formed to a.ny suitable shape by etching; or the conductor may be drawn, painted, or printed upon the support by a suitable metallic pigment or a carbon, blacklead, or metallic pencil. In another modification, the support is of metal covered by a film of oxide, sulphide, or other compound; or a thin laver of enamel, varnish, or the like may be applied to the support. In this case, the leads to the terminals F are led through insulating-sleeves. In all forms, the support serves to absorb the heat generated in the conductor F, but does not short - circuit it. A sound chamber C is superposed over the support D and is held down to a base B by a cap A forming an earpiece.
