Addressing - machines. - In addressing - machines comprising an oscillating platen-carrying arm, the printing- devices are fed by hand and are moved from the changing position to the printing position and back again at each complete actuation of the machine, so as to be readily changed. The printing - devices are carried by a slide which is reciprocated from the platen-carrying arm by means including a lostmotion device. The printing - devices 9 are introduced through an opening in the frame and are received in a socket 21 in a slide 18, which is connected to a yoke 47 by a link 19. 'the socket is formed with a depression 22 to enable the printing-devices to be tilted for removal. The yoke is actuated by the platen - carrying arm 12 through a connexion which permits lost motion and comprises a link 54 having an elongated slot 55 engaging a pin 56 on the yoke, and a spring 61. The movement of the slide is limited by the engagement of a roller 60 thereon with a buffer 50. Printing is effected through an ink ribbon 27 fed over the bed 25 from spools, which are alternately rotated in opposite directions by means of ratchet mechanism actuated from the platen - carrying arm. The tags &c. to be printed are positioned by means of adjustable guides 65, 66.
