Abstract
21,331. Newth, W. H. D. Oct. 21. Air and gas pressure sprayers; spraying- machines. - Apparatus for dispersing or condensing fog by projecting into the atmosphere currents or streams of heated air, or air and water, or spray, with or without chemicals, comprises a closed container c into which air is forced through a tapering conduit b by a rotary fan or blower a, and water by a pump d driven by a motor e. A safety-valve m may be provided, and the motor may be controlled by a float so as to maintain the water at a constant level. Spray or a mixture of air and water is discharged through pipes f, cocks g, flexible tubes h, and nozzles k. Jets of air and water may be delivered alternately. By means of pipes leading from the lower and upper parts of the container c, water may be forced into the central part of a compound nozzle and air into an annular outer part, so as to form spray. The air may be heated by being passed through a coil located in a steam chest or chamber or heated by petrol or other burners. A chemical solution may be sprayed or emploved to generate gas to be mixed with the jet. The gas may be obtained by treating bicarbonate of soda with tartaric acid. The apparatus may be fixed permanently in position or mounted on a ship or trolly. According to the Provisional Specification, jets of cooled air or vapour may be employed.
