Ceiling - roses. -To avoid the effects of fumes in chemical works &c., the terminals D for receiving the wires or cables are carried on the wider flange B of a bobbin-shaped member A of porcelain, ebonite, &c., the flange with its terminals being submerged within a sealing- composition contained in a hollow inverted dome M. The member A is attached to the ceiling by a wood-screw J, Fig. 7, passing through an aperture in the smaller flange C, and after the wires have been attached to the terminals, the sealing-cup M is brought into position, a central boss N of the cup entering a recess G, Fig. 4, in the member A, and the parts are secured together by a screw L which is passed through a central opening in the boss N and screwed into the tapped extremity of the screw J. The sealing-cup may be provided with marginal recesses F for the passage of the wires. and the screw L mav terminate in an eye R from which the electric light or other fitting may be suspended. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 9, the central boss N extends through the member A, and the screw L is replaced by a screw V screwing into the ceiling, the member A. being attached to the ceiling by means of wood-screws T. To prevent corrosion, the screw L and eye R may be covered with salt glaze.
