Abstract

Meteorological conditions, local, apparatus for influencing.-Relates to guns intended to produce a powerful atmospheric disturbance and comprising a lower chamber 4 within which a gaseous explosive mixture is fired, and an upper chamber 4<a> separated from the lower chamber by a conical constriction 2, 3. According to the invention, the upper chamber is provided with spring valves 8 which open inwards after the explosion to prevent the formation of too reduced a pressure within the said chamber and the consequent collapse of the wall 1, the object being to permit thin walls to be used for powerful apparatus intended to destroy or upset aircraft. The lower chamber is provided as usual with a pipe 5 for admitting a combustible gas such as acetylene from a suitable generator, a spring valve 8<a> for admitting fresh air after each explosion, and an igniter 6<1> for firing the mixture of gas and air. The Provisional Specification also describes the use of gun-cotton and gunpowder instead of a gaseous explosive mixture.
