Abstract

19,236. Lynah, J. Aug. 29. Feeding webs.-A device for feeding webs of paper, fabric, &c. through a printing or embossing press with an intermittent motion, by means which can be adjusted to accommodate different widths of web, comprises standards e reciprocated by cranks i along grooves g in the bed of the machine. The standards e are connected by a slotted cross-bar t on which gripper frames w are adjustably mounted. The gripper frames are provided with pivoted bevel-ended dogs v, which are offset to grip the edges of the web and are provided with counterweights x; cam-shaped dogs may be used. The slack of the web is wound on a spindle b rotated from the shaft by a belt r, which slips when the web is taut.
