Abstract

18,785. Hollands, C. L. Aug. 18. Channels and reservoirs in vertical-shaft bearings.-To lubricate the bearings of levers used in connexion with railway signalling, and other vertical bearings, a hole or well c formed in the fixed spindle a, on which the lever f turns, is formed at its upper end with transverse openings d and contains absorbent packing e, by means of which oil is delivered to the bearing surfaces. The packing is first threaded through the openings d, and then pressed down into the well c. The upper end of the spindle is fitted with a weather cap j. Instead of being in the spindle a, the lubricating-passages may be in the boss surrounding the spindle.
