Abstract

18,646. Mauclaire, L., and BrÚon, A. Aug. 13, 1913, [Convention date]. Kinematograph apparatus.-Pictures in colours are produced by two successively taken and projected pairs of images arranged, as shown in Fig. 2, side by side on a film of ordinary width with division lines parallel to the length ot the film, two of the primary colours, say, red and green, being rendered one in each pair, and the colours of the two images of each pair being complementary to one another. Fig. 3 illustrates the portions A, a, B, b of the spectrum transmitted by the filters used for producing the corresponding pictures. The film is arranged to pass horizontally through the camera and a shutter C, Fig. 4, is used in conjunction with the filter-holder D in which the filters are positioned in concentric rings. The shutter C and filter-holder are driven synchronously. In order to obtain a gradual change of colour, each of the four filters may be replaced by three filters R, R', R<2>, V, V<1>, V<2>, VB, VB<1>, VB<2>, and VR, VR<1>, VR<2> respectively, and corresponding to the spectrum lines at selected places or portions of the spectrum areas represented by the lines A, a, B, b. In the particular selection described, three of the twelve colours are used in each set of colours, reducing the total number of colours to nine. The shutter C rotates twice as rapidly as the filter-holder D.
