Stop-motions; delivery, stopping; threadguides.-Automatic means are provided for preventing over-running of the upper thread bowls or guides of winding-machines having stopmotions in order to prevent ravelling or entanglement of the yarn &c. when an end breaks. As shown in Fig. 1, a brake a, operated by the rod b from the stop-motion of the machine, is arranged to act on a brake disk d at the side of the howl c as shown in side view in Fig. 2. At the left-hand side of Fig. 1, the lever brake is shown out of action, but at the right-hand side, the parts are shown in the position assumed when the detector mechanism has operated, the consequent lowering of the pivot e to which the lower end of the rod b is secured. having brought into action the brake a, there shown as a band, and stopped the bowl with the yarn end in a convenient position for piecing.
