Abstract
17,663. Evans, W. E., and Leblanc, E. L. July 25. Double silicates.-In the production of baseexchanging bodies by the wet method from sodium aluminate and sodium silicate, the reaction is carried out under pressure in an autoclave. A hard granular precipitate is obtained which is suitable for use without further treatment. The autoclave may be provided with a filter-plate at the bottom. The reagents may be mixed before being placed in the autoclave. the concentration in this case being such as to render precipitation under ordinary conditions difficult or impossible. The proportions mentioned in Specification 15,090/13 may be used, but the concentrations may advantageously be reduced. Particles of an inert substance such as coke or wood may be maintained in suspension to serve as centres upon which precipitation may take place.
