Abstract
16,590. Siemens Bros. Dynamo Works, and Kieffer, E. O. July 11. [Cognate Application, 18,396/14.] Armatures and field-magnets, cooling; coils.- Liquid is caused to flow through one or more sets of longitudinal ducts a, a', a', Fig. 1, formed or drilled in the body of the rotor and connected together by radial or inclined passages d, d<1>, b<2>, the liquid entering and leaving at the same end of the rotor. The-ducts may connect two annular chambers f, one at each end of the rotor, and these chambers may be formed by flanged rings f<1>, which are shrunk on the rotor ends. The rings f<1> serve as supports for the winding end connexions h and the covers h'. The ends of the ducts may be closed, where necessary, by screw-plugs e. Cooling-liquid may be supplied to the axial duct a from outside by means of a stationary pipe b having suitable packing c, the liquid flowing away from the rotor around the pipe b, as shown by the arrows. A pump-arrangement of the kind described in Specification 16,979/14 may be employed. Fig. 2 shows a modified construction of the ring f<1>, which is shrunk on to turned-down parts g<1>, g<2> of the rotor body to form therewith an annular chamber f. The winding end connexions h are led out to insulators which are fastened to the outer face of the ring f<1> by bolts secured in sockets i.
