Abstract

15,563. Jackson, R. June 29. Receptacles provided with cooling-means.-A portable refrigerator in the form of a valise or hand-bag comprises an outer case 1 and lid 4 fitted with an inner insulating-layer of asbestos or tar paper &c., a double-walled metal receptacle 20 for food or other substance to be preserved, and a container 16 for ice &c. forming a lid to the receptacle 20. The container 16 is filled through an opening 17 with a screw-cap 18, and is fitted with drain-pipes communicating with pipes 13 leading into the space between the walls of the receptacle 20. This receptacle is provided with handles 11 and is formed with ribs 12 to space it from the outer casing. A packing 21 is provided for the lid 4, which is preferably formed with vertical faces at the lower part as shown. The receptacle 20 and container 16 may be removed to enable the valise to be used for ordinary goods.
