Rotary stirrers; containers or receptacles.- An apparatus for mixing or stirring liquids and semi-liquids comprises a pan a the lower portion a<1> of which is hemispherical, and a revoluble horizontal shaft b passing through the point from which the spherical surface a<1> is struck, stirrers or beaters e, f, g, h being secured to the shaft by means of bolts i. The stirrers are arranged in pairs diametrically opposed, alternate pairs of stirrers g, h being in the same plane but at right-angles to the other alternate pair e, f. The stirrers have flanged feet closely approaching each other and made in the form of arcs of circles struck from the same centre as the lower face a<1> of the pan. Segmental or arc-shaped stirrers are mounted on the ends of the shaft b, so that the whole of the pan bottom is swept. A discharge plate k with operating-lever is provided. Baffleplates may be arranged on the pan sides.
