Switches, quickaction. - Relates to electric switches of the kind in which a tension spring, one end of which is connected to a crank on the axle that carries the contact blade, has its other end moved from one side of the deadcentre position to the other by connecting it to the free end of an actuating-arm which is oscillated about a fixed point. According to the invention, the axle A, Fig. 1, of the contact blade C, to which angular motion in relation to the fixed contacts H is to be imparted, is situated at a point between the free end E<1> and the pivot F of the actuating arm E, and the crank-pin B which is connected to the free end of the actuating-arm by a tension spring D disposed so as to work in the space between the axle A and the pivot F. The actuating-arm is formed with parts, for example, the sides of an opening E<2> in the arm, which engage the crank-pin and impart an initial positive movement to the contact blade or a positive movement throughout if the spring fails. A construction is shown in Fig. 4 in which the contact blade moves in a plane at right-angles to the base and the actuating-arm E is operated by a rotary spindle passing through the casing and connected to the pivot F by a dog-clutch coupling.
