Abstract
12,696. Breslauer, M., and Moriondi, C. May 24,1913, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Act]. Paper, paper pulp and the like, forming yarns and threads from.-In the manufacture of threads composed of paper combined with textile fibres, the textile fibres in a loose condition are combined with paper bands either during or after twisting. A strip of paper from a roll 1, Fig. 1, passes through a trough 2 in which fibres are intimately mixed with liquid. The strip passes out over a small roller 3 to a spindle 9, the twisting due to which extends beyond the roller 3 into the trough 2. The strip, during twisting, combines with the fibres. Warm air or other gas from nozzles 10 dries the thread on its way to the spindle 9. The fibres may be projected on to the twisting strip of paper by means of compressed air within a chamber provided with a suction pipe. The strip of paper may be delivered from a disk spindle and passed over a damping-roller before being brought into contact with the fibres, and the strip may pass through the chamber either vertically or horizontally. According to Fig. 5, the paper strip 7 is folded by a device 29, fibres fall from a container 31, the folding is completed by a device 30, the strip passes over a roller 32 and is twisted and wound in a bobbin 33. The strip may pass through the container and may be coated with adhesive before being folded or just before receiving the fibres. As applied to a paper spinning machine with a disk spindle, the paper band 7, Fig. 9, leaves the disk spindle 38 by which it is twisted, passes around drawing- rollers 39, 40, receives adhesive from the roll 41 and fibres from the container 31, is dried by a blast device 45 and wound on a bobbin 44. The strip may be passed through the container, either horizontally or vertically. Fig. 16 shows the application of a band of fibres to a strip of paper. Strips of fibres from the roll 62 pass through rubbing leathers 65, 66, and are stretched by rollers 67 and united with a strip of paper 69. Strips of fibres from a container may be delivered direct to the rollers 67. The strip of fibres may be produced in a moist state by feeding a mixture of fibres and water to a metal grating 49, Fig. 13, partly covered with strips of wax or rubber between which the fibres are formed into a strip. A suction device 50<a> withdraws water. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 17, a twisted paper thread 70 is opened by a twist tube 73 so that it can receive the fibres, and during its passage to the roller 74 it is again closed and twisted with the libres.
