Guards; guards, controlling.-Relates to guards for drawing, cutting, and other presses in which the guard is moved synchronously with the tool so that it is covered during its operative movement. The guard a, Figs. 1 and 2, is connected to a rod f adjustably secured to a lever g which is connected by a bolt j to. a lever h and turns on a pin e<1> in a stationary member e. The ]ever h is connected either directly or through a link l to a pin m turning with the crank-shaft k, so that as the tool c falls, the guard a moves across the front of the machine. The guard a is pivoted to a side guard o pivoted on a stationary pin q. A second side guard p is arranged to swing outwards only, so as to allow the hand to be pressed aside by the guard a.
