Disinfecting; desinfected articles, protecting. -Surgical dressings &c. are sterilized in containers which are afterwards sealed to preserve the dressings in a sterile condition. The metallic container a, formed with a ripping- band g in known manner; is filled with the dressings &c. and sterilized in an autoclave. The lid b having a small aperture c is then soldered in position, the container and its contents again sterilized, and the aperture c finally closed by means of a soldered disk e or otherwise. The lid is provided with a tube d containing cotton wool to sterilize any air which may ,enter during the final soldering, and this tube may be perforated, may have its inner end upturned, or may have a basket-like shield to prevent contact of the dressings with the inner end. In the form shown a .perforated disk f is placed between the contents of the container and the tube d.
