Abstract

[Published under Section 91 of the Act.] Supporting.-The flexible conductor is wound upon a reel carried by the support; the lamp can be adjusted to any angle; and means are provided to clamp the support to a chair &c., or hang it upon a hook, or fix it on a flat surface such as a mirror. The reel 11 is mounted upon the central stem 12 of the base 7, in which is an opening 18<a> for the cord, the other end of the cord passing through an opening in the reel into the stem 12. This stem is partly cut away at 13, where it is hinged, at 15, to the lamp socket screw 14. A split sleeve 19 maintains the parts in position. A circular bail 20, provided with spring ends 21 bearing against and fixed to the inside of the base, can be pulled out by means of a finger-piece 23, when it serves as a clamp for fixing the support to the back of a chair, Fig. 6. The finger-piece also serves as a means for suspending the support from a hook or nail. By means of a suction cup 25, pivotally secured to the reel 11, the support can be held against a flat surface, such as a mirror.
