Abstract
7437. Siemens Bros. & Co., [Siemens & Halske Akt.-Ges.]. March 24. Cores, covering by winding.-In apparatus for winding lappings, wire, or the like on ring-shaped electric coils or other bodies of similar shape, means is provided for positively winding up the slack which would otherwise be formed during the revolution of the winder when the winder is eccentrically disposed in regard to the body to be covered. In the arrangement shown in Figs. 3 and 4, in which a driven winding-ring 4 is of channel section and is fitted with a storage ring 2 having the material 5 wound upon it in such a direction that the ring 2 during unwinding moves relatively to the ring 4 in the direction of the winding movement about the annular body 1, slackening of the material 5 is prevented by means of a spring 10 which connects the slipping member of a brake 11 to the shaft 9<Î> of a pinion 9 driven by the ring 2 and tends to move the ring backwards. The modified form shown in Fig. 5 is adapted for use when the winding material is coiled on the ring 2 in such a direction that the ring 2 moves relatively counter to the winding-ring 4 when the apparatus is at work. A recess 20 in the ring 4 accommodates a trough-shaped brake-piece 13 partly enclosing the ring 2. A spring 16, attached to the ring 4 and to a pin 15 on the piece 13, moves this piece and the ring 2 in the direction of the arrow A when the tension on the winding material slackens, and thus winds back the material on the ring. The winding material 5 passes in known manner over a roller or guide 3 disposed so that the material acquires a bend or set which tends to make it lie flat against the body 1 during winding.
