Abstract
3721. Nesetril, J. Sept. 24, 1913. Presses and moulding-machines with fixed mould tables or moulds.-A press for moulding concrete railway sleepers, such as are described in Specification 21,556/13, [Class 104 (ii), Railway and tramway permanent way &c.], comprises a mould 54 attached to an hydraulic ram 53 which is raised to compress the material against an upper die 57, supported upon screws 55 and adjustable by screwed sleeves 56 operable through worm gearing 59,58 by a shaft 61 geared to an electromotor. Material is introduced to the press in a filling-frame 47 formed in two parts connected by members 48, which also constitute the ends of a core member 51 for the base of the sleeper and carry pins 50 for produting the bolt-holes. The frame 47 is transported by a carriage 46 running on rails 45 and is lifted therefrom, when over the mould, by hooked members 63 hinged to the upper die 57 and provided with projections 65 adapted to engage beneath lugs 66 on the frame. In operation, the filled frame is introduced into the press and lifted from the carriage 46, and the carriage is then withdrawn and the frame lowered into the mould 54. The ram 53 is then operated to press the material against the upper die 57. After pressing, the frame 47 is lifted out of the mould by rams 71 and suspended upon the hooks 63, the carriage 46 being then run into position to receive the frame, which is lowered thereon and carried off.
