Tentering.-The pivoted upper jaw e of a tentering or like clip is formed with a forked arm g, to which a gripping-plate j of any desired shape can be secured by means of a pin i. The plate shown has four equal gripping-faces k, one of which is engaged by the face h to hold the plate firmly in position ; this arrangement permits change when the faces k become worn. A plate of annular form, as shown in Fig. 4, may also be used for this purpose. Plates of the form shown in Figs. 3, 5, and 6 are used when it is desired to grip varying widths of selvedge.
