2219. Tucker, H. H., Gaston, G. H., and Miller, J. H. Jan. 27. Ploughs; treating land with gases.-A plough or tilling-implement comprises a furrow or trench forming part, a vibrating soil breaker or pulverizer, a reciprocating cutter, an engine for actuating the pulverizer and cutter, and means for heating the pulverizer by discharging the exhaust gases upon it. The invention is shown applied to a subsoiler 15 attached to a foot 16 on a standard 17 at the end of a beam 18. The pulverizing-plate 20 is hinged to the U-shaped subsoiler 15 at 21 and is flanged to fit over it. The plate is connected by a rod 24 to the piston-rod of an internal-combustion engine 23. The exhaust gases pass beneath the plate 20 through a duct 25. The reciprocating cutter 26 is connected to the plate 20. The subsoiler is provided with a hinged heel-plate 27 which is adjustable by means of a set-screw 28.
