Abstract
2099. Marks, E. C. R., [Auto-Ped Co.]. Jan. 26. Motor-cycles and the like; motor-wheels; fuelcontainers.-The front motor and steering-wheel B is arranged in tandem with the rear wheel C, and the rider stands on a platform A' disposed preferably below the wheel centres and holds a stabilizing-bar D hinged at F to the steering- head, the bar being then in an approximately vertical position. The bar D may form a petrol tank, the joint F being constructed to allow the petrol to flow to the engine when the bar is upright, but shutting off the petrol when the bar is folded down to the position shown in Fig. 1. The crank-shaft of the motor is arranged co-axially with the steering - wheel, as shown in Fig. 3, and drives the wheel through reducing epicyclic gearing. A brake band K can be expanded so as to engage the inside of the road wheel to brake the vehicle, or can be contracted to engage the epicyclic gear casing and clutch the engine to the road wheels. This band is operated by forward and backward movements of the stabilizing-bar D. The motor casing forms a connexion between the wheel axle and steering-pivot.
