Abstract
1757. Ross, S. J., and Schofield, H. Jan. 22. Electric appliances. - Dissimilar metals are applied to separate areas of articles of wearing- apparel in such a way that they form an integral part of the fabric without impairing its flexibility. The methods specified are : (1) coating the fibres or yarn electrolytically before weaving or knitting; (2) knitting or darning fine wires into the fabric after manufacture ; (3) forming the warp or the weft of the fabric of fine wires ; (4) infiltrating the fabric with powder which may be held therein by compression or by an adhesive. Fig. 4 shows the sole portion of a stocking treated in areas b, c with zinc and with copper or silver respectively. Other articles mentioned are gloves, wristbands, caps, body-belts, vests, bed-socks, and socks similar to boot socks to be worn inside the stockings. The garments are worn next to the skin or with a layer of gauze interposed.
