Abstract

352. Burnham, H. S. March 13, 1913, [Convention date]. Sewing-machine folding-attachments. - For folding the edges of fabrics which are sewn together near the edge by a seam, two converging rotary folders 19 of angular form and tapering as shown are mounted in a bearing 18<a> on a plate 10 on the bed-plate of a sewing-machine. They are driven by bevel-gearing from a beltdriven shaft 13, and coact with a spring-pressed guide 24 having concave portions surrounding the folders, the concave portions being separated by a wall 26. The double ply of cloth, on its passage to the presser - foot, passes over and under the folders as shown, and its edges are turned in between the folders and the guide, the amount turned in being regulated by an adjustable member 29 bearing against the seam 33. Other forms of seams may be similarly finished.
