Abstract
337. Fabry, R. Jan. 6. Ammonia and other gas solutions, distilling. -An apparatus for dissociating chemical solutions, for example decomposing crude ammoniacal liquor into caustic ammoniacal liquor and gaseous sulphuretted hydrogen and carbon dioxide, transforming bicarbonate solutions into normal carbonate and carbon dioxide, or treating combined solutions of alkali bicarbonates and ammonium compounds resulting from the washing of coal-gas with a solution containing ammonia and alkali carbonate, consists of a still B, a dephlegmator A to which the vapours from the still are led by a pipe U, and a preheater D to which the residual liquid from the still is led by a pipe T, the plant being so arranged that the crude liquor is fed in proportions regulated by valves 22, 26, partly through a pipe 25 to the dephlegmator A, and partly by a pipe 27 to the preheater D. The liquor fed to the dephlegmator A separates water and ammonia from the escaping gases and flows, together with liquor from the preheater D, through the pipe U to the still B. The still is fitted with a steam heater C. The apparatus may be worked under pressure to avoid loss of ammonia. Specifications 16,052/85 and 23,696/11 are referred to.
