Direct-call systems.-In systems in which the stations X,Y are supplied with current from mains through inductances A, A, the circuits are arranged so that, when the key E is placed on the contact F at station X, a calling circuit is completed over the non-inductive relay U<1> at station Y. This relay brings the call bell &c. S' into circuit, the circuit being broken when the speaking-key E' is actuated. During conversation, the receiver R and condenser K at one station are in parallel with the transmitter T' at the other station.
