Jan. 2, 1913, [Convention date] Skiving. - Cylindrical knives integral with a bottom disk are mounted so as to be removed from their carrying- shaft by means operated entirely from the end of the machine remote from the knife. The base b of the knife is pierced with a central opening c which fits upon a seat on the flange c of the shaft d, which is made hollow for the passage of a bolt m. This bolt screws into a head q, which clamps the knife against the flange c and drives it by a pin r, which passes through a slot in the knife and enters a hole in the flange. The bolt m is either continuous and furnished with a milled head p, or is in two parts coupled either temporarily or permanently at o. The shaft d is driven through a coupling l.
