Framework.-A girder for a hydro-aeroplane or other light structure consists of longitudinal members a, Fig. 1, preferably tubular and provided with sliding lugs b having sockets to receive transverse members d and lugs for ties f. The end ties are connected by a plate g to a tension rod h bearing on a yoke i into which fit the ends of the members a. A box girder or frame is formed by two such side girders tied together at each end by a cross-bar and provided with sliding lugs and diagonal and transverse bracing at the top and bottom and tension rods through the end cross-ties. Fig. 4 shows a transverse section through the centre of a box girder suitable for a hydro-aeroplane and provided with a propeller housing p.
