Abstract

Tread surfaces.-Tyre treads are formed with curved grooves, the greater length of which is at one side of the tread, so that the grooves are closed by the road when the wheel is inclined thereto. In the form shown in Fig. 2, elliptical grooves are interrupted at the ends 10, 11 of a diameter, and short oppositely inclined central grooves 14 lie within the elliptical grooves. In the form shown in Fig. 4, substantially semi-elliptical grooves 22, 23 form a zigzag from one side of the tread to the other.
