Syringes and like appliances.-Apparatus for intravenous injections comprises a container 2 for pure water &c. and a container 4 for the solution to be injected. The containers are connected at the top by an air-tight cap 44, and at the bottom by tubes 18, 20, 24 to the needle 6. The container 2 has an air inlet tube 10 with constricted orifice 12, so that the rate of flow of liquid from either container may be indicated by the flow of air-bubbles up the container 2. The outlet tube 16 of the container 4 rises a little above the bottom of the container to prevent solid impurities from passing to the needle. In operation, water &c. is first allowed to flow to expel air from the tubes 18, 24, and then the medicated solution is allowed to flow to expel air from the tube 20. The needle is then inserted in the vein, and water is allowed to flow until the rate of flow of air-bubbles up the container 2 shows that the needle is properly inserted. The medicated solution is then allowed to enter the vein.
