Syringes.-In hypodermic syringes, the amount of liquid injected is determined by actuating the pistons by means of a motor, for example clockwork, running at a definite speed. The clock-work a drives a worm-wheel b secured to a screw-threaded spindle c, on which is mounted a half-nut d. A lever f is pivoted at e and to the nut d and carries a number of pins g adapted to engage eyes h on the ends of the piston-rods i of the syringes k. The syringes are slidably mounted on rods l to enable them to be moved towards or away from the pivot e for the purpose of varying the rate of travel of the pistons. Instead of the lever f, other means, such as a bar receiving a parallel sliding motion, may be used.
