Bakers' ovens.-In a baker's oven in which the baking-chamber is divided into superposed compartments w i t h heating - elements between to afford top and bottom heat to the goods, which pass through the compartments on a travelling sole, the sole is formed of separate elements which are positively controlled or guided so that they are maintained in an horizontal position at all times. The oven shown in Fig. 1 comprises a chamber a having a feeding-opening b, discharge opening c, and superposed compartments a<1>, a<2>, a<3>, a<4>, above and below which are arranged flues h, h<1>, h<2>, h<3> communicating with the furnace d. The flues may be replaced by other heating-means, such as steam or hot-water tubes. The sole is shown diagrammatically as comprising two pairs of chains c, e<1> passing over guide-pulleys f, f<1> driven by any suitable means, one pair of chains carrying the plates or trays g, and the other pair of chains positively guiding the trays so that they always maintain an horizontal position. This means for guiding the trays is disclosed in Specification 14,408/13, [Class 78 (i), Conveyers &c.], as applied to dough-proving apparatus; but it may be replaced by the means described in Specification 2365/12, [Class 78 (i), Conveyers &c.], or by any other means adapted to guide or control the trays in a similar manner.
