Forced-draught systems.-In a forced-draught installation for ships, the boilers, each equipped with an air-heater located in the path of the waste gases in well-known manner, are installed in a closed stokehold and each air-heater is provided with an air-supply opening direct from the stokehold. The heater d comprises tubes through which the furnace gases pass to the uptake c, and around which the air passes. The inlet i to the heater may be flared.
