Abstract

Reversible handles; fixing by screwed sockets. -Relates to broom-handle fixings of the kind consisting of a headed bolt passing through the broom stock and screwing into a nut in the handle. The stock a, which has sloping sides. is provided with a slot b opening at right-angles to both of these sides and adapted to receive a bent bolt c. The head of the bolt is large enough to rest against the stock at one of the openings of the slot b, or is supported in the orifice by a flanged washer, while the nut g engaging the threaded end c<1> of the bolt is carried by a sleeve c on the handle, a bead f on the sleeve or on a separate loose sleeve limiting the inward movement of the handle. The bolt may be permanently connected to the handle and threaded at its free end to receive the fixing-nut. The Specification as open to inspection under Section 91 (3) (a) comprises also a modification in which one opening of the slot is disposed at the upper surface of a stock, and the other at the lower surface thereof. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
