Abstract
24,494. Elliott, A. D. Oct. 29. Pipettes; gas - absorption, apparatus. - A pipette is constructed as shown diagrammatically in Fig. 1. A narrow tube a is sealed at one end to a wider outer tube, on which are formed one or more bulbs. The inner tube passes out at the side of the outer tube at a point, b below the lowest bulb, and above the level of liquid in a flask or other vessel into which the outer tube fits. The bulbs may be graduated as desired. The pipette is filled by blowing, into the orifice at a. Several such pipettes may be connected as shown in Fig. 3, the apparatus being used for gas-absorption and like purposes. The apparatus fills with liquid when gas enters at x.
