Abstract

22,379. Hatfield, H. S. Oct. 10. Quantity meters.-For measuring gas in a sealed gas voltameter, a transparent three-limbed siphon A, B, C is used, which empties itself when full of gas into a tube G. The total volume of gas is read from two scales F. The Figure shows a voltameter in which the gas from one electrode E is measured. The bulb H is provided with an overflow tube K to keep the surface of the liquid in the bulb at the same level as in the siphon when the latter is on the point of discharging, in order to obviate error due to temperature changes. The siphon may be constructed with one limb inside another, and the upper part of the tube G may consist of a number of bulbs joined end to end.
