Combined carding and spinning machines; twist tubes and like twisters; spindle apparatus. - In spinning cotton fibres for making unwound material for polishing purposes, the slivers from the carding-engine pass through fleece dividers and rubbers to a series of twist tubes 5, Fig. 4, comprising pairs of rollers 3, Fig. 2, driven through gears 8, 9, from a grooved pulley 11, and a tube 5, driven by means of a grooved pulley 12 and having an interior of divergent form in which the material accumulates as a loose mass.
