Abstract
20,465. Gans, H. Sept. 11, 1912, [Convention date]. Corrosion, preventing.-The free oxygen dissolved in water for feeding boilers and for other purposes is removed by the addition of sulphur compounds capable of absorbing oxygen such as sulphurous acid, hydrosulphurous acid, one uf the polythionic acids, or any of the salts of these acids, or sulphuretted hydrogen. A catalytic agent such as a copper or iron salt may be added. Specifications 2218/66 and 3365/76, [both in Class 46, Filtering &c.], 8883/89, 2577/91, and 6933/03 and 22,193/09, [both in Class 46, Filtering &c.], describe the use of oxidizable sulphur compounds for purifying water and for removing the oxygen formed from the impurities in water by heating.
