Abstract
20,440. Dick, G. Sept. 10. Laying and supporting pipes. - Drain - pipes having flanged ends butt together within a divided sleeve, the lower half of which forms a supporting-chair b. The pipe ends have slots d which register to provide an opening to allow finishing the inside of the joint, inspection, or the introduction of cleaning-rods. The upper half e of the sleeve has a projection f which closes the openings d. The joint is made with cement, yarn, or other packing. The two parts of the sleeve may be held by a dovetail key g, or when of metal, may be bolted together.
