[Cognate Application, 29,303/13.] Separating and indenting stitches.-A stitchindenting arm 17 is mounted on a pivot 18 so as to be capable of vertical and horizontal movements at its stitch-indenting end 20. The arm 17, normally held raised by a spring 19, is struck at intervals by a plunger 3 lifted by a cam on a shaft 2 and depressed by a spring- pressed arm 8. A second cam on the shaft operates a lever 33 carrying an adjustable screw stop 35, which pushes a plunger 36 against the side of the lever 17 when this is in its workengaging position, and so feeds the work. A spring contained in a casing 38 returns the lever 17 to its normal position. The work is held pressed against an adjustable guide 22, with the sole resting on a support 21, which is thinned off to enter the crease of the shoe. The support 21 is mounted to slide in guides in the frame, but is normally held pressed forward by an adjustable spring 28. As the work is pressed against the support, this yields until the edge of the sole comes in contact with the guide 22.
